Our Story
Velvet Lane Cakes & Cafe was born from a simple belief: that every celebration deserves something truly extraordinary. What began as a passion for handcrafted baking has grown into one of Toronto's most beloved cake studios and cafés. A destination where artistry, flavour, and community come together.
Since opening our doors in 2018, we've been crafting cakes, pastries, and desserts entirely from scratch, using quality ingredients and a whole lot of love. Nestled in the heart of Old Town Toronto at 173 King Street East, just steps from St. Lawrence Market and the Distillery District. Our cafe & studio is as much a place to gather as it is a place to create.
Meet Danielle
Velvet Lane started the way many great things do.. at home. Founder Danielle began baking from her kitchen, pouring her creativity and care into every order. As her reputation grew, so did her vision: a physical space where clients could meet her in person, feel the warmth of the brand, and collect their orders with confidence.
Opening Velvet Lane wasn't just about scaling a business, it was about building trust. A real space, a real team, a real commitment to the people who celebrate life's most meaningful moments with our cakes.

We are an award-winning custom cake shop specializing in designs that push the boundaries of what cake can be. From intricate 3D sculpted cakes and hyper-realistic creations to life-scale statement pieces and our signature Lambeth-piped Vintage Heart Cakes (introduced in 2019), every cake that leaves our studio is a one-of-a-kind work of edible art.
